Dr Aine Seavers graduated from Dublin University in 1985 and spent the next 2 years working in Dublin in Companion Small Animal Practice.
In 1987, Dr Aine left Ireland and spent the next two years dealing exclusively with Companion Animals in a busy London practice.
In 1989, Aine married Mark Weingarth and together they ran their Veterinary Clinic in Petts Wood, Kent UK until 1992.
On returning to Australia in 1992, they purchased the Oak Flats Vet Clinic in July of that year.
Main Veterinary interest is the investigation and treatment of all skin conditions. A detailed work-up of skin conditions is provided at the clinic. Other interests include gastro-intestinal disease, nutritional concepts, including Pyschodietetics (the effects of individual foods on behaviour and seizure control) and Emergency Medicine. The German Shepherd is one of her favourite breeds, having grown up with a grandfather who bred and trained award-winning German Shepherd Police Dogs in Ireland. Over the years, Aine has had the privilege to also share her home with several bossy opinionated Siamese cats, some truly naughty dachshunds and with the most loyal of German shepherds companions.
Dr Seavers is the author of a significant number of peer-reviewed papers making her one of the most published general practitioners in Australia. Dr Seavers also has published many general veterinary interest articles (see the Articles link on the left for details).
In 2016 Dr Aine has started a new blog to help educate pet owners on the best affordable ways they can keep their pets protected and healthy.
Dr Aine has also designed several novel techniques to treat standard skin, neurological or traumatic conditions including the “Stopica” coats for allergic skin disease and skin wounds, cylindrical heat packs to treat hypothermia cases, the use of the Omentum (Seavers’ Sling) to replace a destroyed abdominal wall, the modified “Seavers’ Slide” to replace dislocated hips and the use of anti-anxiety medication in Dementia in dogs.
